Every girl deserves safety.
But in the villages of Uganda, poverty often decides otherwise.
At the Geaux Foundation, our first priority is to shelter her—to step in when no one else can, and offer immediate refuge from danger, desperation, and despair.
For many girls in Uganda, home is not a place of safety. It's a place of pressure. Poverty forces families to make heartbreaking decisions—like removing daughters from school or marrying them off in exchange for financial relief.
These decisions often come suddenly. A girl may have no warning before her life is upended.
She is still a child.
When a girl is identified as at risk—whether through a pastor, teacher, community member, or relative—our team acts quickly.
We bring her to the Geaux Foundation.
Here, she is welcomed with open arms. She is fed, clothed, and given a safe place to rest. For the first time in a long time, she can breathe. She is no longer in survival mode. She is safe.
“When I arrived, I didn’t know what would happen to me. But I felt peace for the first time.”
— Geaux Student
Sheltering her is about more than food and a roof overhead. It means:
A secure dormitory bed, not a borrowed mat on the floor.
Nutritious meals every day, not scraps or skipped meals.
Clean clothes, toiletries, and dignity restored.
Daily routines that bring structure and stability.
A caring adult always nearby.
A sense of belonging—for perhaps the first time.
Before a girl can learn, grow, or dream—she must feel safe.
Sheltering her is the first step in her journey. It’s the moment she begins to believe:
“Maybe my life doesn’t have to end this way. Maybe there’s more for me.”
We are here to say: Yes, there is more. And it starts now.
